Meet Gema Beasley, Camera Manager at MPS Austin and queen of hip hop and electronic/dance funkiness. She’s super friendly and knowledgeable, and when she’s not hooking you up with all the camera gear you need for a stellar shoot, she’s out on the town or phoning fam across the pond.

1. How did you get your start with MPS and how long have you been with the company?
I’ve grown up in and around the MPS fam. It’s always been a desire of mine to get into the business with the them, but I didn’t realize it would be as fast as it actually happened. My senior year of school at St. Edward’s, we opened up shop here in Austin. I was asked to help out and here we are, going on five years later.

2. When you’re not at MPS, where can we find you? i.e. How do you recharge?
When I’m not at MPS you can find me catching up on shows or hanging out with friends. We’ll either be going to the movies, finding shows to attend, trying out new restaurants, dancing, the list goes on…

3. What’s your favorite piece of equipment to work with?
My favorite piece of equipment would probably be the Alexa. It’s quite the smooth operator.

4. If we were to hop onto your music playlist, what would we see you were listening to most recently?
Oh gosh. I feel I’m always listening to new things recently, but genres you can find me listening to these days are R&B/hip hop and electronic/dance funkiness.

5. If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
I’ve always said that I would love to teleport. I could go anywhere at the snap of a finger. If someone needed my help, bam! I’m there. If I was running late, bam! I’m there. If I wanted to visit family in England real quick, bam! I’m there. It would be very convenient.
