Orion Series lenses deliver the striking beauty of painterly waterfall bokeh, disproportionate breathing, and signature but controlled flare.  These optical characteristics are now available as part of your cinematic storytelling toolkit with a mechanical functionality that won’t leave you feeling confounded by compromise.

Atlas Anamorphic (aka Atlas Orion Anamorphic) lenses are built to be a universal filmmaking tool – ready for the latest Digital Cinema PL mount cameras like ARRI ALEXA Mini, and are even designed to accommodate the rotating mirror shutter of 35mm Motion Picture Film Cameras following ARRI PL Flange requirements. Whether your project requires you to shoot digital or film, the 65mm T2 has the coverage you need and boasts a larger than S35mm Image Circle. (Alexa Open Gate full height Coverage). Combined with the Atlas Extender, the Atlas Anamorphic lenses can also cover full-frame sensors like the ALEXA MINI LF.

Focus has a deep 270° travel rotation. Cine pitch 0.8 mod gearing on both iris and Focus ring are spaced to allow simultaneous drive control, even when two motors are mounted on the same side of the lens.

Put simply, anamorphic lenses optically squeeze the image horizontally onto your recording medium to give you a wider field of view. The Atlas Orion Anamorphic Primes offer a cost-effective way to shoot anamorphic – generating an oval bokeh and controllable lens flares.

Why is Cinemascope Anamorphic shooting so special? It’s often difficult to put into words the feeling we are left with when watching something shot using Anamorphic lenses. One particularly unique feature of a true front Anamorphic Lens is that for a given focal length, you have the same vertical field of view as that of a spherical lens of the same focal length, but with twice the horizontal field of view (2X). In the example of a 65mm 2x Anamorphic Lens, you would have a 65mm vertical FOV with 32.5mm equivalent horizontal FOV.

In effect, you can capture a wide-angle image with the inherent shallow Depth of Field qualities of a telephoto prime lens. This optical property creates a unique sense of perspective magnification which generates depth in your images — at times feeling more epic than real life as we experience it!

• Focus Movement: Our Academy Award® winning cam-style focus movement coupled with the added benefit of a large lens barrel diameter, has allowed for an increased number of focus markings, particularly at close focus. Spherical aberration has been controlled throughout the range of focal lengths to eliminate compensation of changes in back focus with aperture. A four-point contact bearing provides a smooth positive backlash-free movement.
• Focus Scaling: Large, clear numerals on both sides of the focus barrel benefit the focus puller when shooting under difficult lighting conditions. Plus the the Entrance Pupil position is engraved on the lens.
• Camera Mounts: Cooke Hardened PL Mount with /i Technology contacts.
• Compatibility: All Cooke Anamorphic/i lenses have a common, fixed front diameter of 110mm, except for the 25, 65 MACRO and 300mm focal lengths and the Anamorphic/i zoom lenses, which are 136mm. All have an iris drive gear of 134T x 0.8.
• External Finish: A scratch resistant PTFE hard anodised finish is provided on all Cooke lenses, providing a durable, hard-wearing surface to meet the most demanding environmental conditions.
• Iris: An eleven-leaf linear module iris assembly is fitted into the Cooke Anamorphic/i zooms with an aperture range of T3.1 to T22.

i Techonology: The Cooke Anamorphic 35-140mm zoom lens is equipped with /i Technology that collect detailed lens data for production, VFX and post-production teams and are designed for all PL mounted professional motion picture film and electronic cameras. The /i Technology provides cinematographers and camera operators with vital information on lens setting, focusing distance, aperture and depth-of-field, hyperfocal distance, serial number, owner data, lens type and focal length in both metric and footage measurements, as well as inertial tracking data, shading and distortion data. Images beautifully rendered for film and especially suited for use with digital cameras. The Cooke Anamorphic /i lens correct aberrations exceptionally well over the entire image area – astigmatism, lateral and longitudinal colour – that will render shape, form and soul to your images. Distortion, veiling glare, flares, and all aberrations are controlled at all apertures over the whole field of view, and like the S4/i, 5/i and miniS4/i prime lenses, the cam focus mechanism allows for smooth focus adjustments.
